Los Angeles Institute - Staff Applications
*Update: ALL LAI alumni are eligible to apply for Peer Counselor and Support Staff positions*

Staff applications for the 2012 Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project’s Los Angeles Institute (LAI) are now being accepted. A team of support staff, peer counselors and facilitators will be selected to provide mentorship and supervision to 50 students who will participate in the Los Angeles Institute from Friday, August 10, 2012 to Sunday, August 12, 2012. To ensure full availability and accessibility for the student participants and institute staff, all participating LAI staff will be required to attend a mandatory orientation on Sunday, August 5, 2012 and will be required to stay on site at UCLA for the duration of the program (August 10-12). The application deadline for the LAI Staff is Friday, July 20, 2012. Applications must be submitted online at lai@clylp.org.

Staff Positions
Facilitators
Under the general direction of the LAI Co-Chairs, the Facilitator serves as group leader to ten institute participants. As group leader, the Facilitator supervises his/her assigned students and peer counselor for the entire weekend of the program. The Facilitator is a positive role model and leader who provide students context to speakers and other program activities.
Peer Counselors
Under the direct supervision of the Facilitator, the Peer Counselor assists in the supervision of ten institute participants. In assisting the Facilitator, the Peer Counselor monitors the whereabouts of all assigned students and expedites travel between conference sessions/activities. Peer counselors are positive role models who are college bound and who inspires enthusiasm in student participants.
Support Staff
Under the general direction of the LAI Co-Chairs, the Support Staff serves as the support network for conference logistics such as hosting visitors and presenters, set up workshops and other campus logistics. Support Staff who take initiative are essential to the execution of a strong program.
