Sacramento Leadership Conference - Staff Applications

CLYLP students on Assembly floor

Staff applications for the 29th Annual Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project (CLYLP) Sacramento Leadership Conference are now being accepted. A team of support staff, peer counselors and facilitators will be selected to provide mentorship and supervision to one hundred twenty (120) applicants who will be selected to participate in the summer conference. To ensure full availability and accessibility for the student participants and conference team, all participating conference staff will be required to attend a mandatory orientation on Friday, July 23, 2011 and stay on site in Sacramento for the duration of the conference (through July 31, 2011). The application deadline for the CLYLP Sacramento Leadership Conference Staff is Saturday, April 23, 2011.

CLYLP Conference Alumni are encouraged to apply and be part of a special team committed to strengthening the network and capacity of “California’s Future Leaders!”

Peer Counselors
Under the direct supervision of the Facilitator, the Peer Counselor assists in the supervision of ten conference participants. In assisting the Facilitator, the Peer Counselor monitors the whereabouts of all assigned students and expedites travel between conference sessions/activities. The most important role of the peer counselor is that of a positive role model to all student participants.

Support Staff
Under the general direction of the Conference Coordinator, the Support Staff serves as the support network of conference logistics such as the store (La Tiendita), deliveries between presentation hall and dorm, airport transportation, store runs, and much more. The most important role of a Support Staff member is that of a positive role model and reliable worker.

Facilitators
Under the general direction of the Conference Coordinator, the Facilitator serves as group leader to ten conference participants. As group leader, the Facilitator supervises his/her assigned students and peer counselor for the entire week of the conference. The most important role of the Facilitator is that of a positive role model and resource person to all student participants.
