2011 CLYLP Scholarships

The Robert Gracia Memorial Scholarship is named after one of the CLYLP’s most dedicated volunteers who was committed to developing the leadership potential of California’s youth.  In 2011, the CLYLP is honoring the memory of Melinda Melendez with a scholarship for a female student interested in a career relating to education and/or public policy.
Scholarships are awarded annually to incoming freshman, transfer students and graduate students based on: 1) three essays that address their community engagement following the summer program in Sacramento or at the regional institutes in Fresno or Los Angeles; educational and career goals; and an idea for a bill or law; 2) financial need; and 3) a review of the applicant’s resume and recommendation letters. Selected scholarship recipients will be awarded $1,000.00 for the 2012-2013 academic year.
Eligibility - applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Be an alumni of the Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project (includes Sacramento Conference and regional institutes in Fresno and Los Angeles)
- Be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university
- Have a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher
- Submit a complete application via email on/before the deadline
Application - the following must be included:
- Current transcript that includes your GPA and grades from your last academic term
- Most recent financial aid award letter or a statement of financial need
- Resume
- Two letters of recommendation
- A complete response to three essay questions
Deadline and Email Submission
- Applications and all required materials must be emailed on/before 5/30/11 to scholarship@clylp.org
- Include your name on each page of your documents or PDF as one file

- Scholarship winners will be notified by 7/23/2011 and will be invited to the 2010 CLYLP Banquet in Sacramento, CA on 7/29/2011.
