2025 CLYLP Programs
CLYLP will be following the health and safety requirements of each host campus and local jurisdiction. More details to be provided as they are confirmed.
10th and 11th grade students in California who are interested in participating in meeting other CA students, hearing guest speakers, participating in workshops and learning more about their culture. Read more about Program Eligibility here.
CLYLP programs are FREE of cost to students and their families. Students will be provided meals, housing, program materials, and transportation (if applicable).
If you attended a regional institute you are eligible to apply for the Statewide Leadership Conference. If you attended the Statewide Leadership Conference you are not eligible to apply for any program.
Students are encouraged to apply to both the Statewide Leadership Conference AND the regional institute that they are eligible to apply for in their region.
Yes! Students of all identities are welcomed to apply!
Yes. Adult volunteers are selected through an application process and must completed a background check and training. Volunteers will be with students throughout the entirety of the program and stay within the same building as the students.
You may only apply to the regional institute in which you reside. Please take a look at each institute page for eligibility requirements.
The Application
Follow the steps outlined in the video guided walkthrough or PDF guided walkthrough for creating your account.
Do not use a school email to create your account, many school districts restrict who you may receive emails to.
Please check your spam/junk folders for our application automated emails.
Helpful pointers:
Nickname, Username, Email, and should all be the same email address
Password must have a minimum of 8 characters and use both numbers and letter
If you are receiving errors attempting to create your account please be sure you've followed the steps above. If you are still receiving errors, please email applications@clylp.org with the error message you are receiving.
If the error is: "unable to verify your account please try again later" after inputting the verification code emailed to you, please email us right away so we can help create your account. applications@clylp.org
The “submit application” area will be visible within 24 hours of creating your account. Please wait a minimum of 1 hour after creating your account and return to the application screen. If needed, log out and log in.
If after 24 hours you do not see the “submit application” area, email applications@clylp.org
Our current platform does not allow for edits. Please use this checklist to ensure you are prepared to submit. If after submitting you need to provide an additional documents please email applications@clylp.org
Your will add your recommender's name and email in the application (you can add them and save your application in progress prior to submitting the full application. They will receive an email inviting them to complete the online recommendation.
If they have any questions they can contact us at applications@clylp.org or visit the recommender's page for assistance.

It is likely their email may have been filtered by a school district security filter. You can provide them with the following instructions:

In an effort to learn more about you in various aspects of your life, your recommendation letters should come from each requested categories. If it is not possible to get one from both categories, we will accept 2 recommendations from the same category.
Please ensure recommenders are completing the required form which can be found here. The form is available in both English and Spanish.
Scan the transcript into a PDF file and upload it to the online application. You do not need an official transcript, a screenshot of your online transcript is sufficient.
What is a transcript:
- A transcript shows the student information, High School information, and all the classes and grades completed and in progress. Some high schools have online portals that you can access the transcript, or you may need to request one directly from your school.
You will receive emails after you submitted your application and as the application is being reviewed.
